JOB SUMMARY The Traffic Control Technician is responsible to setup traffic control for a reasonably safe and effective movement to the public through or around our temporary work zones, while protecting the public, our crews, emergency responders, work area and equipment. All requirements and laws supported by the Federal Highway Administration, American Traffic Safety Services Association, State and individual City Barricade Manuals, shall be followed when performing any traffic control process or procedure on each project. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Leadership

Learn and understand rules and regulations of American Traffic Safety Services Association, State and individual City Barricade Manuals
Communication
Communicate with Dispatch on daily tasks
Communicate with Foreman and Inspectors on assigned projects
Tasks/Technical
Fill out and turn in required paperwork daily
Properly conduct a pre-trip inspection of vehicle and/or trailers daily
Conduct 360 walk arounds of vehicle and/or trailers
Build and load barricade equipment needed for traffic control closures
Follow traffic rules and regulations on permits and American Traffic Safety Services Association, State and individual City Barricade Manuals when setting up in roadways
Assess the jobsite prior to setting up work zone for any hazards or unforeseen circumstance and make inspector, foreman and dispatch aware of the situation
Set up & take down lane closures & pre-warner\'s according to stipulations outlined on permits or traffic plans
Check work zone throughout shift to ensure barricades are still in compliance and in their proper position & location
Keep vehicle clean and orderly and inform supervisor & shop of any safety or vehicle problems or violations daily
General maintenance of barricade equipment
Assists with or help crews with items not related to traffic control
Other duties as assigned

Willing to work nights or weekends when needed when projects demand
Education & experience
High School Diploma/ G.E.D. or basic reading, writing & math skills
0-1year Traffic Control Construction Experience preferred
Current Arizona Drivers License
Need valid Medical Card or able to obtain Medical Card
Able to get Flagger Card certification
Able to get ATSSA Traffic Control Supervisor certification
Physical Requirements
100% outdoor environment exposed to extreme heat & weather conditions.
Must be able to lift 50 pounds at a time.
Standing & walking up to 90% of the day
