Examples of Duties

  • Take enforcement action, in accordance with the program guidelines, against the operators of those vehicles exceeding the target threshold.
  • Prepare traffic cases and testify in court pertaining to enforcement actions that were undertaken while performing Intersection Speed and/or Photo Red Light duties.
  • Issues citations and warnings.
  • Maintains databases, spreadsheets, and other systems.
  • Prepares and writes a variety of reports, forms, records, and files; interacts with prosecutors, attorneys, and court officials; appears in court as required.
  • Participate in department/division/section operational processes including procedure development and implementation.
  • Provide excellence in internal and external customer service. Create a positive experience for customers through professional and courteous behavior and creative problem resolution. Focus on producing high quality results.

Minimum Qualifications

Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:
  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) grade AND
  • 2-3 years varied administrative support and public/customer service experience, preferably in a law enforcement and/or court environment.
  • Age 21 or older
Preferred:
  • Certified as a Peace Officer in the State of Oregon AND
  • A minimum of 3 years civilian law enforcement experience or equivalent.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Possession of a valid driver\'s license and a satisfactory driving history.
  • LEDS Certification or ability to obtain within 6 months required.
  • Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) fingerprints must be completed and cleared prior to start date.
Supplemental Information

Union: TPOA

Schedule: This is a 20 hour per week position (Benefits are pro-rated for part-time status)

Background: Must be willing and able to pass a detailed background investigation.

Compensation: The hourly range for this position is $28.22-$36.02. This position will start off at Step 1 at $28.22 per hour.

Classification Notes:
Physical Demands: Must possess mobility to work in a standard office setting and use standard office equipment, including a computer; vision to read printed materials and a computer screen; and hearing and speech to communicate in person, before groups, and over the telephone. Finger dexterity is needed to access, enter, and retrieve data using a computer keyboard or calculator and to operate police services equipment. Positions in this classification may be required to bend, stoop, kneel, reach, and climb to perform work. Employees must possess the ability to lift, carry, push, and pull materials and objects weighing up to 40 pounds.

Environmental Elements: This position typically works in an office setting with occasional hectic or demanding situations. May experience frequent interruptions which require considerable flexibility. Employees may interact with upset public and private representatives in interpreting and enforcing departmental policies and procedures. This position routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers and telephones. Occasional testimony under oath is required in a courtroom setting subject to court rules, including in-person appearances.
