Moorhead is a land clearing and site preparation contractor specializing in large-scale projects including solar farms, commercial developments and right-of-way clearing. Our team is dedicated to safety, quality and efficiency and we are seeking experienced forestry equipment operators to join our growing company.



Position Summary:



We are seeking a skilled Trackhoe/Grapple Operator (Forestry) to perform land clearing and debris handling operations on large-scale forestry and site preparation projects. This role is essential to our field operations and involves safely operating heavy equipment to remove, sort and load timber, stumps and debris. The ideal candidate has proven experience in forestry or land clearing, strong equipment handling skills, and a solid commitment to safety and production efficiency.



Key Responsibilities:


Operate trackhoes and excavators equipped with grapples, thumbs or other forestry attachments. Remove, sort, and load trees, brush and stumps during land clearing operations. Assist in building and maintaining burn piles, windrow, or debris zones as directed. Load debris and logs into haul trucks or grinders for transport or processing. Perform routine equipment inspections, maintenance checks and report mechanical issues. Follow site plans and instructions from project supervisors to maintain production goals. Adhere to all company safety procedures, environmental guidelines and job-specific protocols. Support other field operations when not actively operating equipment.
Qualifications:


Proven experience operating trackhoes or excavators in forestry, land clearing or logging environments (required). Proficiency using grapples, thumbs, or similar attachments for timber and debris handling. Knowledge of safe forestry and land clearing practices. Ability to perform basic maintenance and safety inspections on heavy equipment. Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively in a crew environment. Reliable transportation and willingness to travel to various job sites (per diem provided where applicable).
Physical Requirements:


Ability to sit and operate heavy machinery for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. for maintenance or ground support tasks. Comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions and rugged terrain.
