About the Role:

The Toolmaker Class A plays a critical role in the manufacturing process by designing, fabricating, and maintaining precision tools, dies, and molds used in production. This position requires a high level of technical expertise to ensure that all tooling meets exact specifications and quality standards, directly impacting product quality and manufacturing efficiency. The Toolmaker Class A collaborates closely with engineering and production teams to troubleshoot and resolve tooling issues, minimizing downtime and optimizing workflow. This role demands meticulous attention to detail and a strong understanding of various machining techniques and materials. Ultimately, the Toolmaker Class A ensures that all tooling components are reliable, durable, and capable of supporting high-volume manufacturing operations within the United States.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of an accredited toolmaking apprenticeship or equivalent experience in precision toolmaking. Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and blueprints. Experience operating manual and CNC machine tools. Strong knowledge of machining processes, materials, and measurement techniques.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification as a Journeyman Toolmaker or equivalent. Experience with CAD/CAM software for tooling design and programming. Familiarity with lean manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies. Ability to work with advanced materials such as hardened steels and exotic alloys. Previous experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities:

Fabricate, assemble, and repair precision tools, dies, jigs, and fixtures according to engineering drawings and specifications. Operate and maintain a variety of machine tools including lathes, milling machines, grinders, and CNC equipment to produce high-quality tooling components. Perform detailed inspections and measurements to verify tooling accuracy and adherence to quality standards. Collaborate with engineers and production staff to identify tooling issues and implement effective solutions to improve manufacturing processes. Maintain accurate documentation of tooling maintenance, repairs, and modifications to ensure traceability and compliance with company standards.

Skills:

The required skills enable the Toolmaker Class A to accurately interpret complex engineering drawings and translate them into precise tooling components using both manual and CNC machinery. Proficiency in machining processes and measurement techniques ensures that tools meet stringent quality and dimensional standards, which is essential for maintaining production efficiency.
