Tooling Engineer

Horicon, WI - Full Time



Productive Resources (www.productiveresources.com) is seeking a candidate to be part of our engineering team at our customer's facility in Horicon, WI. As a member of our team, the selected candidate will plan, coordinate, and perform manufacturing engineering work for a project or process. Operate in a team environment within either the enterprise product delivery process or the enterprise order fulfillment process. At this level, projects are of moderate scope and responsibility or may be a significant portion of a major and diverse project or process; decisions are made within established guidelines and may be reviewed by supervisors and/or managers. May assign, coordinate and review portions of the work for support personnel, contractors and suppliers.

Duties:

Design & procure required tooling from tool suppliers, validate the tool, and implement into production. Plan, coordinate, develop, and procure new concepts and designs for tooling to facilitate the implementation of new and revised products into the core manufacturing processes. Apply necessary Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing and use technical judgment and past experience to evaluate various designs while maintaining and supporting current operations. Provide and manage the in-house tool design, and the design and build of tooling by external suppliers. Assist with problem identification and resolution, root cause analysis, corrective action, reliability analysis, and verification/validation of fixtures development. Communicate and maintain tool design information to the appropriate database. Provide on-going production support to tooling concerns including quality of the part and functionality of the tool. Process tooling requests on new or revised parts to determine exact tooling requirements and determines type of tool needed. Procure the required tooling from internal tool room or external tool suppliers and aid in implementation into production.



Requirements:

Experience in the design of assembly tooling, weld tooling, material handling equipment, and lift fixtures. Proficiency in designing tooling in 3D modeling software and implementing into production. Experience working with factory operations including weld and assembly processes. Experience reading and understanding weld and assembly drawings.


Preferred:

Good interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. CAD skills including working knowledge of Creo modeling, drawings, and assembly Computer and typing skills including working knowledge of MS Word and MS Outlook. Shows initiative, demonstrates analytical ability, and attention to detail. Must be able to read and interpret engineering drawings. Ability to work without direct supervision. Knowledge of manufacturing practices including toolmaking, welding, and fabrication. Willing and excited to learn new skills while being a self-starter.
