This is a federally funded grant program that is approved for 5 years. Currently in the 5th year of the grant.
Terms of Employment: Regular, full-time 12-month position, with University benefit package. Position open until filled.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Oversees the implementation and progress of all Title III project activities.
Attends all U.S. Dept. of Education Title III directors' meetings; maintains knowledge/compliance with Dept. of Education rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
Maintains project budget and ensures appropriate use of funds pursuant to federal, state, and university policies and prepares project and fiscal reports for submission to Dept. of Education.
Manages an office staff that is committed to serving and supporting students.
Establishes effective communication regarding the Title III project to university leadership and the campus community.
Provides direct leadership for successful academic advising/student coaching services.
Participates in relevant university committees.
Participates in the decision-making process with Student Services and other university leadership regarding NWOSU priorities, initiatives, policies, procedures, budgets, structure, and other management issues as appropriate.
Conducts routine staff meetings to discuss department, division, and university activities and issues; communicates with and updates staff about university decisions and activities.
Participates in training sessions and trains key staff in the use of technologies/software relevant to the program and NWOSU.
Applies research and evaluation methodologies in support of institutional effectiveness measures and other internal accountability, retention, marketing, or decision-support projects.
Directly responsible for academic intervention initiatives in accordance with university guidelines.
Coaches a caseload of students and assists them in exploring personal, academic, and career goals.
Performs personnel-related duties, including hiring and supervision of LASSO Center staff, and conducts planning, evaluation, and corrective actions for staff.
Maintains updated knowledge of Federal Grant Program requirements.
Reports directly to the Vice President of Student Affairs and Enrollment Management.
Qualifications:
A master's degree in education, higher education, counseling, or related field is required.
Five+ years' academic advising experience is required, with demonstrated knowledge of federal, state, and higher education policies and procedures, or six+ years of university employment with demonstrated knowledge of academic programs and support services.
Three to five years of increasing responsibilities for student advising and/or retention, including staff supervision (or an equivalent combination of education and experience) is preferred.
Three years of administrative and fiscal grant management experience is preferred.
Knowledge of/demonstrated competencies in leadership, management, supervisory practices and principles, business practices, budgeting and planning.
Excellent written/verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, organization and management skills required.
Proficiency with software tools: MS Office required; Ellucian tools preferred.
Thorough knowledge of evaluation techniques and reporting requirements appropriate to federal grants preferred.
Commitment to educating underprepared students is required; teaching experience is preferred.
