TITLE II - COMPLIANCE MONITOR

This position will remain open until business needs are met


Job Duties:




Conducts on-site facility and desk file inspections throughout the state to monitor law enforcement facilities for proper classification, record keeping, and data verification to demonstrate compliance with the core requirements of the Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA) and related Arizona statutes

Collects, analyzes, and tracks monthly juvenile holding report forms from Arizona law enforcement agencies, jails, lockups, detention centers, juvenile correction facilities, and any other secure public and private facilities where juveniles might be detained or incarcerated

Provides training and technical assistance to Arizona's peace officers, detention officers, judges, probation officers, and other stakeholders to help the state maintain compliance with the JJDPA's core requirements

Represents GOYFF and juvenile justice programs at designated meetings with other governmental jurisdictions and juvenile justice, children, and family-related organizations

Maintains Arizona law enforcement agency contacts, monthly reports, and policies for each facility monitored under the JJDPA

Helps to support and develop the Arizona Management System (AMS) metrics and standards throughout all areas of work

Assists with the staffing of the Arizona Juvenile Justice Commission and designated workgroups of the Commission

Prepares data and submits the Annual State Compliance Monitoring Report pursuant to federal guidelines

Frequent in-state travel is required, including overnight stays as needed and potential out-of-state travel

All other duties as assigned


Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):




The position requires extensive knowledge of juvenile delinquency and the juvenile justice system, including the federal JJDP Act and relevant state laws, regulations, and trends at the local, state, and federal levels

Self-motivated and able to work independently and within a team, demonstrating the ability to organize and prioritize work assignments as they arise

Possesses the ability to communicate effectively in a culturally appropriate manner and exhibits the skills to implement culturally competent service

Demonstrates dedication to working closely and cooperatively with diverse staff, commissions, youth, families, and law enforcement agencies

Communicates clearly and accurately, both verbally and in writing, and can effectively present information to senior management and external stakeholders

Must be able to review and evaluate juvenile justice system practices analytically and develop improvement plans

Must possess an intermediate-level knowledge of Google Drive/Suite, Excel, and Word programs

Demonstrates strong ethical professional standards and embraces a multicultural perspective

Possesses strong project management skills and is detail-oriented


Selective Preference(s):




Bachelor's (BA or BS) degree in criminal justice or a related field


Pre-Employment Requirements:




Employees who drive on state business are subject to driver's license record checks, must maintain acceptable driving records and must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.)

Requires possession of and ability to retain a current, valid state-issued driver's license appropriate to the assignment
