Primary Function of Position:

The primary objective for this person is to lead and coach a team of assembly technicians and contribute to building a variety of ATM products meeting quality and productivity goals, within a manufacturing/lab work environment. This person would need to be able to inspect and identify possible defects in highly variable raw and finished good biologic material and assess usability, based on an in depth understanding of end user interaction with the products. This role necessitates contributions to new product and process development and introduction, with the ability to give appropriate feedback gathered from direct observation and team experience. Tissue Technician Leads are expected to champion Continuous Improvement initiatives and exemplify Intuitive Individual and leadership Expectations.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Provide coaching to enable team members meet their performance goals ( safety, quality and efficiency)
  • Provide first-line technical support to resolve production issues
  • Deliver on personal production goals set forth
  • Perform preparation work such as line start-up, line clearance, and organizing daily job rotations
  • Operate and set up (as needed), production equipment/fixtures.
  • Perform inspection and rework of products as needed
  • Cross-train or mentor others in areas of expertise (as needed).
  • Monitor job rotation on the production lines to comply with ergonomic requirements
  • Participate in training meetings and provide training plan feedback for employees to ensure job rotation.
  • Properly complete manufacturing/regulatory documentation. Initiate basic material requests, report quality issues, record measurements as needed.
  • Maintain the accuracy of identification and count of point-of-use materials to maintain traceability and line clearance. Accurately determine and report material shortages.
  • Provide first-line interpersonal support to resolve minor interpersonal challenges within team
  • Actively participate in lean and/ or quality improvement initiatives with Engineering and Quality.
  • Review and disposition discrepant material. Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrences.
  • Provide input on manufacturability (with respect to tooling and assembly methods) and suggest changes or tooling concepts during early design process phase to Engineering.
  • Be knowledgeable of multiple assembly tasks while meeting requirements for workmanship, safety and productivity.
  • Review existing operational and process discrepancies in manufacturing and provide technical expertise to improve procedures
  • Review BOM and Traveler/ MPI discrepancies
  • Follow all corporate, regulatory, safety and production policies and procedures.
  • Communicate clearly and effectively time sensitive requests
  • Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications

Skills, Experience, Education, & Training:
  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 2 to 5 years of related experience or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Has good leadership skills and is able to build team relationships
  • Ability to perform fine motor tasks such as sewing and cutting, with attention to detail
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English. Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees, supervisors, or engineers
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions.
  • Ability to report quality issues.
  • Ability to suggest simple process improvements
  • Ability to use computers as part of daily work. Ability to use online documentation
  • Proficient in training/mentoring other Technicians
  • Proficient at quality record documentation
  • Demonstrates leadership and communication ability
  • Demonstrates understanding of basic operational principles of assemblies upon which training has been completed
  • Demonstrates ability to diagnose possible root cause failure modes of assemblies upon which training has been completed
  • Solution-oriented mindset
  • Demonstrates ability to build product with very minimum instructions
  • If internal, must be recommended for promotion from the area Production Supervisor and Management team. Promotion approval may be subject to interview process.

It would not be typical for someone to be hired at the top end of range for the role, as actual pay will be determined based on several factors, including experience, skills, and qualifications.
