Position Overview

Tutor Partners is hiring in-person tutors to provide push-in classroom support for 7th and 8th-grade students at Thomas Johnson Middle School in Prince George's County Public Schools (PGCPS).


Tutors will work alongside classroom teachers to deliver targeted academic support during the school day. This position is ideal for educators who are passionate about helping middle school students strengthen their skills, build confidence, and stay on track academically.

Key Responsibilities

Provide in-class ("push-in") support to small groups or individual students in Math or ELA classrooms. Reinforce instruction by clarifying concepts, modeling strategies, and guiding practice activities. Collaborate with teachers to align tutoring with ongoing classroom instruction. Track attendance and student progress using the provided tools. Foster a supportive and culturally responsive learning environment. Participate in brief coaching or team meetings as needed.

Qualifications

Associate's degree or minimum of 24 college credits required; Bachelor's degree preferred. 1 year of tutoring or classroom experience preferred. Strong content knowledge in middle school ELA or Math. Excellent communication, collaboration, and classroom presence. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and supporting diverse learners. Reliable transportation to Thomas Johnson Middle School (Landover, MD).

Preferred:

Experience supporting English Learners or students with IEPs. Bilingual proficiency (Spanish, French, Pashto, Dari, Farsi, or Arabic) is a plus.
