About Us:

Avon Health Center, family owned since 1974, provides a range of services, including skilled nursing care, post-acute medical and rehabilitation care, hospice and respite care. We are a 120 bed facility, 90 of which are Long Term and 30 Short Term.



Our Facility has an excellent reputation in the community and we are looking for a caring person to provide leadership and drive the quality care we are known for to our residents.:



We are looking for a full time Therapeutic Recreation Director who is dynamic, energetic, outgoing, friendly, enthusiastic, professional and courteous. Must enjoy working with people, especially elderly.



40-hours per week (Tuesday-Saturday)



$18-$20/hour DOE



The Recreation Staff Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator (TRD) is responsible for planning, organizing, developing and directing the overall operation of the Activities Department. As a TRD, you will report to the Director of Recreation . This is not a manager position.



The TRD is responsible for all activities and programs for residents of all functioning levels. Additional responsibilities include transportation of residents to activities within the facility/on the grounds and facilitating visits (indoor, outdoor, virtual, phone) between residents and their family and friends.



Position Requirements



Must possess, at a minimum, high school diploma (or equivalent) and Connecticut state Certificate in Therapeutic Recreation or be enrolled in a TRD Certificate Program (Documentation Required) Minimum 1 year experience in a long term care/senior housing facility Ability to evaluate residents' needs Experience with establishing resident care goals Ability to lift, push, pull and move without restrictions (moving residents in wheelchairs, etc.) Must be able to speak and read English Familiarity with proper documentation required of a TRD
