Role Overview
As a
Theater Instructor
, you will design and deliver a dynamic theater curriculum that balances technical skill, creative expression, and performance experience. You will foster a supportive classroom environment where students gain confidence, learn teamwork, and explore the art of theater through hands-on projects, productions, and showcases.
Key Responsibilities
Instruction & Curriculum Development
Develop and implement engaging theater lessons for students at varying skill levels.
Teach acting, voice, movement, improvisation, and stagecraft fundamentals.
Introduce students to theatrical history, contemporary performance practices, and storytelling techniques.
Performance & Production
Plan, rehearse, and execute student performances and showcases.
Collaborate with other performing arts educators to create a cohesive, school-wide theater program.
Ensure productions reflect high-quality artistic standards and inclusivity.
Student Engagement & Classroom Culture
Build a safe, encouraging, and creative classroom environment where students feel confident taking risks and expressing themselves.
Provide constructive feedback to support students' technical and artistic growth.
Foster collaboration, teamwork, and leadership skills through group projects and performances.
Professional Development & Collaboration
Participate in coaching and targeted feedback sessions to refine teaching practices.
Collaborate with colleagues and school leadership to enhance the overall arts curriculum.
Contribute to school-wide initiatives that highlight the importance of the performing arts in education.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree completed prior to start date; specialized training in theater, performing arts, or related field preferred.
Professional experience in theater or performing arts, either through training, performance, or teaching.
Strong classroom management and leadership skills, with experience guiding groups of students.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational abilities.
Commitment to cultivating student growth, creativity, and confidence.
