Camp Counselor, Theatre Camp, Waterville Opera House



$18.00/hour; Non-Exempt Status, 40 hours/week, Temporary (February 16-February 21, 2026)



Reports to: Lead Camp Counselor, Waterville Creates



The Camp Counselor ensures a safe and welcoming environment for all campers and camp staff. Under the direction of the Lead Camp Counselor and working closely with WC and Missoula Theatre staff, the Camp Counselor ensures all participants adhere to theatre camp guidelines while creating an inclusive environment for all participants. The Camp Counselor is an enthusiastic, collaborative team member with a keen interest in theatre and the creative arts in general.

About Theatre Camp


Each year, Waterville Opera House partners with Missoula Children's Theatre to offer week-long theatre camp sessions in the winter and summer. The week includes auditions and rehearsals which provide children in Grades 1-8 with the opportunity to learn about the theatrical process. Camp concludes on Saturday afternoon with a fully realized performance, including scenery, costumes, and props.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities



Maintains a safe environment for campers and staff. Assists with camper drop off and pick up each day. Helps with warm up camper activities, theatre games, workshops. Attends to special camper needs (behavioral, allergies, epi-pens, etc.) under director of Lead Counselor. Adheres to all theatre camp policies + procedures. Monitors camper behavior and communicates any concerns immediately to Lead Counselor. Helps organize nametags, costume bags, t-shirts. Assists with costume strike procedure with counselors and campers Helps with final camper check out Attends pre and post camp planning meetings with WC staff.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



Experience working with children a plus Enthusiastic, positive, collaborative demeanor; creative problem-solver, keen attention to detail Highly organized and able to handle multiple tasks simultaneously Ability to work with diverse audiences and populations Background check required Prior experience/working knowledge of theatrical processes 18 years +

Physical Demands/Conditions/Requirements



Full range of physical mobility including walking, sitting, standing, stooping, carrying, reaching and manual dexterity is required.
