About Schminke Tennis Academy
Schminke Tennis Academy is a growing tennis program located in the Carolina Forest community of Myrtle Beach, SC, in collaboration with the Christian Academy of Myrtle Beach. STA offers a variety of programs, including private and semi-private lessons, group clinics for both junior and adult players, as well as academy tournament training. Our Academy consists of state, sectional, and nationally ranked juniors continuing their tennis journey in a positive and encouraging environment. We also offer hitting sessions, racket restringing and customization, and ball machine rentals. Mark Schminke, an RSPA Elite Tennis Professional, 2016 RSPA Southern U30 Professional of the year, and recent 2025 RSPA Southern Teaching Professional of the year, owns and operates the academy.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Lead engaging and personalized private tennis lessons tailored to individual student needs and goals.
Design, organize, and deliver dynamic and fun group tennis clinics for various experience levels.
Actively participate in Schminke Tennis Academy clinics under the supervision of the Director of High Performance, engaging in team teaching and providing encouragement to players and parents.
Promote the Schminke Tennis Academy program and maintain a positive and professional coaching environment on and off the court.
Maintain clear, consistent, and proactive daily communication with players through texts, phone calls, and emails, including scheduling updates, lesson reminders, progress reports, and feedback solicitation.
Schedule and maintain an up to date schedule on Court Reserve
Potential to travel to tournaments with students
Qualifications:
RSPA or USPTR Certification encouraged
Strong playing ability with a minimum rating of 4.0
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills
Ability to create engaging and effective lesson plans and clinic curricula
Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches and staff
Must be eligible to work as an independent contractor (1099)
New college graduates are encouraged to apply

Physical Requirements:
Ability to teach on-court for extended periods
Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in outdoor conditions
Availability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed
Compensation & Benefits
Income is based off percentage of lessons and hourly rate for clinics. Potential income is well above $50,000+ annually and can reach over $100,000 for the right candidate, depending on experience and the growth of the independent contractor's lesson/clinic schedule.
Candidate will walk into a guaranteed 20+ hours of clinic/lessons/camps with the potential to easily grow to over 40+ hours within the first few months.
RSPA Certification Compensation - partial dues will be covered after 6 months of employment.
Racket Package - STA will supply a package of 2 rackets and bag, with unlimited free stringing after 90 days of employment
