Summary or Purpose
The Temporary Security Guard is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for
employees, visitors, and property. This short-term role supports security operations during peak
periods, special events, staff shortages, or temporary assignments. The guard will monitor
premises, enforce safety procedures, and respond to incidents in a professional and timely
manner.
Minimum Qualification Requirements

Education and/or Experience:
Graduated from high school or has a general education degree required.
One to three months of related experience and/or training preferred.
Language Skills:
Read and interpret procedures, policies, and regulations, including safety rules,
operating/maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Present information effectively and respond to questions from supervisors, staff, and the
public when issues are reported.

Mathematical Skills:
o Add, subtract two-digit numbers, and multiply and divide using 10's and 100's.
Perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement,
volume, and distance.
Reasoning Ability:
o Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of non-standard situations.
Interpret various instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations:
Possession of a valid Alaska Driver's License is highly preferred.
Preference:
o Inupiaq speaking and cultural experience preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor and patrol assigned areas on foot or by vehicle to prevent theft, vandalism, and
unauthorized activity. Control access to facility or event areas, including checking credentials, badges, or tickets.
Observe and report suspicious behavior, safety hazards, or security breaches.
Respond to alarms, emergencies, and incidents according to established procedures.
Provide assistance and information to employees, guests, or the public in a courteous
manner. Complete incident reports, daily activity logs, and other required documentation.
Follow all NSBSD security protocols and site-specific instructions.
Collaborate with law enforcement or emergency services when necessary.
Maintain a high level of professionalism and visibility on site.
