Join a collaborative team dedicated to reducing the impact of substance use disorders across South Dakota as a Temporary Research Assistant in the Allied & Population Health department. This position will support a wide range of START-SD project activities from developing materials and assisting with outreach efforts to contributing to research through literature reviews and data analysis.
This part-time, grant-funded temporary position is located in . The role allows 4 hours of work per week and is funded through 8/31/2028.
The mission of the Allied and Population Health Department's Community Practice Innovation Center is to address community-identified needs and implement innovative solutions to better serve our region, which is achieved through project (research and public health) and service work.
Must be authorized to work in the U.S. Sponsorship is not available for this position.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Support the project activities of the START-SD team by conducting literature searches and reviews, analyzing data for research projects, developing and assisting with awareness campaigns, and supporting other START-SD project activities such as workforce development activities and creating re-entry materials and packets.

QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Health, Biology, or a closely related field;
  • Experience with community health or public health through academic coursework or certification;
  • Knowledge of biostatistics, gained through coursework or certification;
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Ability to work well within a team environment;
  • Organizational and time management skills.
  • Valid driver's license, or ability to obtain one within 30 days of hire.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • At least one year of experience in a health care or behavioral health setting;
  • Experience creating professional written documents such as reports, evaluations, or clinical charting.
