Position Summary: The Facilities and Security Coordinator is responsible for the maintenance, care and security of a large downtown building. The position requires being self-directed and able to communicate well with outside vendors, feeding program guests, members, volunteers and other employees. The role is currently a temporary position for approximately two months, with the possibility of becoming a more permanent role.
Major Responsibilities:
Security
Perform morning walkaround, getting anyone sleeping around outside of building up and on their way (8:15a-9:15a Monday-Thursday)
Lock and unlock entrances daily, per Connection Cafe Space Use agreement
Secure alley entrance during Connection Cafe (11:45a-1:15p, Monday-Friday)
o Ask guests to form a single line along the outer alleyway prior to opening
o Enforce St. John's no weapons policy, confiscating any weapons prior to building entry
o Placing/returning the cigarette receptacle near the alley door entrance, encouraging guests to use it while outside
Sanitation
Vacuum and remove trash from offices weekly
Place trash from breakroom, common areas and bathrooms in outside receptacle 2x/week
Misc. Maintenance
Maintain church grounds, picking up trash, spraying weeds, as needed
Clear sidewalks of snow or put down sand on sidewalks, as necessary
Maintain exterior and interior door locks, keeping them in working condition
Collaborate with our cleaning vendor(s), overseeing the weekly surface cleaning of common spaces
Set HVAC thermostats by space, as requested
Fill up and flush basement pump, twice per week
Set up meeting rooms for scheduled meetings and events; move furnishings and equipment, as requested
Other duties, as assigned
Leadership
Provide input on annual and one-time facilities related contracts
Fill and restock blessing bags, as needed
Attend weekly staff meetings, providing a verbal report to the team
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
A friendly, gracious manner with the ability to relate to people of all ages and a variety of life situations. Creative problem solving, all-purpose handyperson with ability to learn complex building maintenance needs. Basic Microsoft Office and email skills. Ability to walk up and down stairs, stand for long periods of time, and to lift up to 60 pounds.
Qualifications:
High school diploma; security experience preferred, maintenance experience preferred; knowledge of OSHA guidelines preferred; supervisory experience preferred.
Job Type: Temporary
Pay: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
Expected hours: 29.5 per week
