Job Description

Advanced Systems Design is seeking a Telecommunications Technician for our client.
This is a fully onsite opportunity to work alongside the federal government.
Job Overview:

  • Reports to the Program Manager.
  • Works alone or with a team.
  • Provides switch-related reports, traffic studies, and telephone switch metric data upon request.
  • Provides digital and analog telecommunication maintenance and repair services to include but not limited to telephone switches, transport systems, voicemail systems, and cable/fiber optic distribution systems.
  • Installs telecommunications equipment and systems.
  • Assists with the management of workload control.
  • Performs telecommunications preventative maintenance inspections.
  • Provides on-call/after normal duty hours support as required.
  • Solves complex problems by troubleshooting, repairing, testing, and removing/replacing telecommunications equipment and systems.
  • Provides technical guidance to lower-level technicians.
  • Develops technical recommendations for the modification or replacement of telecommunications equipment and systems.
  • Maintains technological standards and investigates and promotes new telecommunications technologies for use by USAFA.
  • The duties mentioned above require standing for long periods of time, the ability to climb ladders, and the ability to lift 40lbs overhead.
  • Fulfills other work center duties as assigned.
  • Provides support to other contract work centers in cases of manpower shortages or unexpected requirements.
  • As assigned by the Program Manager.
  • Must either currently possess or be eligible to obtain a US Secret Clearance.
Required Qualifications:
  • Must possess a minimum of eight years' experience with cable (copper/fiber optic) facility locating, construction, installation, maintenance, and repair to include copper, fiber cable splicing, and Outside Plant.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • BICSI Technician and Fiber Installation preferred.
Education:
An associate's degree in electronic systems technology. Equivalent experience can be used as a substitute for this degree
