Essential Job Functions:



The Technology Initiatives Associate will support the work of the Special Counsel for Technology Initiatives. The Associate will primarily develop and maintain Access to Justice's Guide & File interviews; update and curate CourtTV content, update and maintain Access to Justice's mobile application, and conduct outreach. The Associate will also support other initiatives of Access to Justice as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:



Guide & File:




Guide & File interviews require updating based on form updates and updates in the law. The interviews each contain a survey for litigants to provide feedback. The interviews should be updated regularly to take user feedback into account.

CourtTV:




CourtTV units require regular check-ins to ensure functionality. New CourtTV units require coordination with the installer and JIS. Such troubleshooting and new installs often require travel. Playlists are updated as needed when new videos are posted.

Maryland Court Help App:




The Maryland Court Help App requires monitoring as it contains court contact information and hours important to litigant users. The app is updated as videos and other Maryland Judiciary website content are updated.

Other Technology:




Other technology under the purview of the Technology Initiatives Associate is the Attorney Information System, Assisted Listening Devices, Public Access Kiosks, Online Dispute Resolution, Maryland Court Help Centers, Schedule Interpreter, and WCAG compliance.

Other Duties:




Other Access to Justice initiatives includes: grant administration, marketing, process documentation, committee maintenance, consulting, and other duties as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications:



Education:




Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university.

Experience:




Three (3) years of work experience with programming, scripting, developing, testing, maintaining and implementing updates to software and applications, to include one (1) year of legal services or court-related work experience.

Note:




Professional related work experience as defined above may be substituted on a year for year basis for up to four (4) years of the required education.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:



Knowledge of:




General office practices, office equipment, and business English.


Computer programming preferred.


Court procedures, rules, regulations, court, legal terminology, and judicial system.

Skill in:




Productivity software, including Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, and Zoom.


Good customer service and understanding of appropriate telephone etiquette.


Working with limited English proficient groups a plus.


Organizational and time management skills.


Accuracy and attention to detail. ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.


Basic typing, math, proofreading, copying, filing, printing, and scanning.

Ability to:




Work with individuals from diverse professional, cultural, and personal backgrounds.


Drive their own or a fleet vehicle.


Communicate effectively, patiently, and tactfully with judges, colleagues, and members of the public.


Understand departmental rules, regulations, and procedures and to carry out complex oral and written instructions.


Perform all essential functions of the position.


Exercise independent judgement in interpreting and applying appropriate policy, procedure, rule, and/or law.


Travel within the state.


Be friendly, enthusiastic, outgoing, and have a positive attitude.


Manage multiple projects simultaneously.


Independently troubleshoot and maintain technology platforms used by Access to Justice.

Physical Requirements:




Sedentary work. Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

Software and Computer Skills:




Microsoft Office for presenting, writing, and gathering and storing data.


Adobe Suite to edit, combine, and organize PDFs.


Tyler's Guide & File to edit document assembly interviews.


Thunkable to update the Maryland Court Help App.


AvediaSuite to create content and manage assets for CourtTV.
