Summary


Technicians will develop and improve manufacturing processes through Production Support, New Product Launch, and Continuous Improvement.

Duties and Responsibilities



Provide Ongoing Production Support

Troubleshooting: Assist Production, Engineering, and Maintenance Staff with troubleshooting equipment and minimizing downtime; possessing a strong mechanical/electronics aptitude through the creation/interpretation of electrical schematics and use of electronics diagnostic equipment (multimeters, oscilloscopes, etc.) Work closely with Product Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Test Engineering and Production to identify and resolve procedural, and product quality problems. Maintains current PC-based testers with respect to software, electronics, and fixtures. Works with technical personnel to resolve testing problems such as product or system malfunctions, incomplete test data, and/or data interpretation. Collaborate to establish, document, and train peers on best practices. Assist with electro-mechanical troubleshooting of various common types of equipment besides ATE, which may include robotics, dispensing systems, safety controllers, and/or vision systems. The aptitude and desire to learn is key, regardless of experience level. Reporting: Provide analytical reports evaluating current processes, procedures, equipment, and associates. This reporting may include Efficiency, Down Time, Identify Bottle Necks, FPY - First Past Yield, Capability (CpK, PPM, etc.), Line Metrics (SQCD - Safety, Quality, Cost, & Delivery), Quarterly Utilization Report, showing available capacity for each Work Center, where applicable.

Support New Product Launches

Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering and Test Engineering to create Manufacturing Cost Estimates (MCE's) for new products. Equipment and work cell Design & Deployment
o Participate in cross-functional, collaborative Work Cell and Equipment Design Review efforts
o Work closely with Engineering Staff to deliver testers for new product launches
o Troubleshoot Programmer/Tester programs under the guidance of a Test Engineer
o Participate in Production Readiness trials to ensure equipment is ready to produce acceptable product
o Provide formal training on new processes and equipment

Collaboration on the development of Value Stream Maps (VSM) Collaborating with Manufacturing Engineering to create PFD's, PFMEA's and Test Plans Develop and maintain Work Instructions for manufacturing processes

Drive Continuous Improvement

Improve throughput of current manufacturing operations
o Identify and help reduce waste from production processes
o Implement CI Tools where appropriate (Kaizens, Go & See (Gemba Walk), Root Cause Analysis (8D, Fishbone, 5-Whys, etc.))
o Create processes to meet budgetary goals as well as performance metrics
o Participate in brainstorming sessions and cross-departmental meetings to ensure collaboration and cohesion

Identify innovative approaches to plant-wide issues that create opportunities for process improvements that positively impact the manufacturing process. All other duties as assigned.

Education/Experience



Associates degree and/or technical training in an engineering or manufacturing discipline. Exposure to Continuous Improvement tools and methodologies (LEAN, 6-Sigma). Two or more years of experience in product manufacturing, electronics assembly experience preferred. Training or experience with low voltage electronic systems is preferred.

Language Skills



Exceptional skills in communication as well as fostering connections with others. Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to draft reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals in English. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, and customers.

Reasoning Skills



Ability to plan, analyze, organize, communicate, and motivate employees, as well as prioritize own work schedule.

Computer Skills



To perform this job successfully, a candidate must be able to use productivity software (Adobe Reader, Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.). Experience with programming languages such as VB, C#, VB.net is a plus.
