Hartzell Engine Tech (HET) is the leading OEM supplier of aircraft cabin heating solutions and engine accessories, including turbocharging systems, alternators, starters, fuel pumps and ignition systems. HET manufactures, rebuilds, and overhauls these products for general aviation and military applications. Key Responsibilities

The technical writer will develop and maintain technical documents for internal and external publication. Document types include owner\'s manuals, service & maintenance manuals, service bulletins, as well as other customer and certification support related documents. The technical writer will work closely with representatives from engineering, operations, quality, product support and sales departments in the development of these publications. Responsibilities also include oversight of document vaulting and the change management workflow for all technical publications within the company PDM (Product Data Management) system (AGILE). The technical writer will also conduct research related to applications and service requirements for other manufacturer\'s products within the general aviation market space. The technical writer reports to the Technical Data Team Manager.

Key Deliverables of the Position

1) Efficiently develop, write, and edit material for internal and external technical publications.

2) Collaborate with other departments for clarity and agreement regarding the content of publications.

3) Understand and work according to established HET standards based on ATA (Air Transport Association) technical writing guidelines and applicable government regulations and procedures.

4) Revise and improve internal standards as required for continuous improvement.

5) Aid in maintaining the change management system within AGILE for all technical publications.

First Year Success Factors

1) Demonstrate proficiency in technical document writing skills.

2) Demonstrate company and customer standards for writing style, format and quality.

3) Demonstrate proficiency in research of installation eligibility and service requirements for products produced by outside manufacturers in the general aviation market segment.

4) Demonstrate proficiency in the use of HET\'s PDM system (AGILE).

5) Demonstrate basic understanding of all HET product lines.

6) Demonstrate knowledge of established HET standards & applicable FAA regulations and procedures.

7) Demonstrate ability to collaborate with production, quality, engineering & product service departments to develop technical publications that are clear, concise, and meet the needs of the end user.

8) Demonstrated ability to manage projects and meet established deadline.

Required Education and Experience

\xc2\xb7 Associate Degree or equivalent study with focus on technical writing or minimum of one to two years technical writing experience in a manufacturing environment.

Required Technical Competencies

1) Excellent grammar and punctuation skills.

2) Demonstrated ability to observe procedures and interpret them into appropriate written format.

3) Demonstrated ability to write clear, concise, reports, business correspondence, and technical procedures.

4) Ability to read, analyze and interpret blueprints, engineering data, and applicable government regulations.

5) Demonstrated expertise with Microsoft Office software (MS Word, Excel, Access).

6) Demonstrated expertise with Adobe desktop publishing software (InDesign , Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) or similar desktop publishing software.

7) Knowledge of ATA 100/ISpec2000 standards and AECMA Simplified English.

Preferred Technical Competencies

1) Experience with 3D CAD software.

2) Experience with aviation related products common to the FAA regulatory system such as Service Bulletins (SB) and instructions for Continued Airworthiness (ICA).

3) Experience with Adobe desktop publishing software (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat) or similar desktop publishing software.

4) Knowledge of ATA 100/ISpec2000 standards and AECMA Simplified English.
