Senior leads have a three-part responsibility to management and their teams to schedule the work to be completed, hold their teams accountable to that schedule, and troubleshoot the problems that arise. The Packaging Senior Lead directs and coordinates finished product packaging and establishes scheduling priorities in coordination with customer service and warehouse. They are responsible for employee safety, product quality, efficient operation and cost control of finished product packaging.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
:
Set the weekly schedule for all packaging lines based on order entry and/or sales forecast.
Communicate that schedule to line leads and other plant departments.
Work with management to set and report KPIs for the individual lines and work with the packaging team to meet established targets.
Final review of daily checklists, paperwork and batch tickets.
Maintain continuous chain of records for purposes of traceability.
Direct and work with line leads to train new team members, minimize downtime and reallocate resources during busy or slow periods.
Understand and enforce Prairie Farms SOPs, GMPs, SSOPs, quality procedures and employee/product safety rules. Participate in employee discipline when needed.
Assist Quality team in root cause analysis/investigation when there are food quality/safety concerns.
Work with management to maintain and review training materials and create new training when need is identified.
Build team morale through regular team huddles and good communication.
+ Help update and create SOPs as needed as well as train employees on them.
+ Monthly inventory counts (Saturday).
+ Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements
:
Degree preferred but not required, depending on experience.
Must have two years supervisory or leadership experience
Should have three to five years of Food Manufacturing experience
Must demonstrate the ability to participate in continual process improvements
Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills (oral and written)
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suites and ERP software programs
Previous forklift and logistics experience.
Must have basic math skills to calculate production yields and understand weights and measures.
Driver's License.
Must have time management skills and the ability to organize and manage multiple assignments
Ability to maintain confidentiality
Flexible working hours will be required
Must be able to verbally communicate, understand and write in the English language
Physical Requirements:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit, stand or walk for prolonged periods of time. The employee is required to use hands and fingers to operate, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms. The employee must be able to lift, bend, stoop, push/pull exerting up to 50 pounds of force, and must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Requires visual acuity to review written documentation; ability to hear and understand speech. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above the ambient noise level. There is exposure to a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, electric current, and exposure to heat/cold temperature changes. Must be able to tolerate allergen exposure to milk.
