Provides a variety of records support functions; reviews and processes documents; determines and explains compliance with laws, rules, regulations and policies and takes appropriate action; maintains a manual or computerized records system; performs related work.
This position is the first point of contact for Pocatello Family Dentistry. The position provides administrative/technical support for the dental program and organizational activities to convey information and maintenance of dental program guidelines, and perform related work. The successful candidate will work approximately 30 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities
Multitask at Reception: Efficiently assist with patient care and treatment, managing a busy clinic environment with multiple incoming/outgoing patients and phone calls.
Manage Clinic Schedule: Prioritize and maintain an accurate daily schedule, filling cancellations and schedule changes using Dentrix.
Prepare Patient Documentation: Ensure all patient paperwork and payments are accurate and entered into the EMR system during schedule prep.
Ensure Compliance: Apply complex policies (e.g., HIPAA, Good Faith Estimates, Idaho Patient Act) to ensure compliance when interacting with patients.
Identify Policy Issues: Recognize when issues fall outside existing policies and escalate to the Dental Technical Records Specialist 3 for resolution.
Utilize EMR & Dentrix: Proficiently use Dentrix and EMR to store, retrieve, and compile patient data, generating reports as needed.
Verify Charges & Payments: Ensure daily charges, payments, and adjustments are correct by running Daysheet, verifying patient ledgers, and submitting to the Clinical Site Director.
Submit Dental Claims: Review, assess, and submit accurate dental claims.
Handle Sensitive Data: Maintain confidentiality and security while working with sensitive or restricted patient information.
Operate Office Equipment: Use word processing software at a minimum of 40 words per minute.
Know Dental Codes: Possess knowledge of ADA dental CDT codes for accurate billing and treatment planning.
Review Treatment Plans: Ensure treatment plans are correct, including codes and fees, and communicate necessary corrections with residents and staff.
Assess Sliding Fee Scale (SFS) Eligibility: Review patient information to determine eligibility for the Sliding Fee Scale and ensure accurate billing.
Math for Payment & Billing: Apply mathematical skills to collect patient payments, submit electronic claims, and apply SFS to eligible patients.
Coordinate with Other Offices: Communicate with external dental and medical offices by fax or phone for patients with complex medical histories.
Schedule Appointments: Ensure patients are scheduled for the correct amount of time based on their needs.
