The Technical Quality Manager owns, develops, maintains and improves our food safety and quality programs in one or more specific processes or disciplines including for example Food Safety, Sanitation, Microbiology, Materials, Brewing, Blending, Packaging, Warehousing and Microbiology. The role serves as the company Subject Matter Expert in the process or discipline for internal and external operations. The role owns the programs and processes within that area including risk assessments, Food Safety, QA and QC Plans, standards development, implementation, and process improvement.
This role requires an individual with operational experience in the food and or beverage industry with the ability to continue to grow our knowledge base and enable our operations to improve our performance. What You'll Brew:
Partner with internal and external Regulatory, Quality, Operations, Innovation, Engineering and Training teams to develop, maintain and implement Food Safety and Quality programs across the Supply Chain.
Serve as the SME for Food Safety and Quality Programs including Policies, SOPs, inspection tools, methods and training materials. Identify and close gaps in existing programs
Own the QC Test Plans for the respective area including risk assessments, QC test frequency programs and improvements.
Identify and develop new and improved QC techniques and methods that enable more efficient Quality execution in operations while reducing risk.
Serve as Quality SME developing and executing the evaluation and qualification of new or modified materials, equipment and process including CQV plans across internal and external locations.
Develop challenge techniques, methods and SOPs for at line, online and in line inspection equipment. Determine equipment capability and establish acceptable inspection capabilities.
Review and interpret complex operations data to identify trends and develop and execute improvement plans.
Provide technical guidance and support for operations and project teams.
Partner with programmers to develop and strategies and interlocks and other preventive measures to deliver mistake proof processes
Develop and implement a change management process for tracking of process standard changes.
Pack Material Evaluation, depalletization, rinsing, filling and sealing process, package coding, tunnel pasteurization, online inspection equipment (fill, pressure, vision), labeling, packing, palletization and warehousing
Package CO2/DO/TPO, fill, ABV, torque, crimp, pasteurization, Packaging QC principles, concepts and programs
Firsthand packaging production equipment operation, calibration or maintenance, Pack Materials evaluation and supplier relationship management; formal packaging, packaging quality experience

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Science or Engineering
7+ years of experience in food and/or beverage manufacturing.
Direct Food Safety and Quality experience in a production environment
Experience in operational standards development, training delivery and implementation
Proven skills with development of Policies, SOPs and other technical documentation.
Experience with MES software
Proven ability to influence indirect stakeholders
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with alcoholic beverage manufacturing
Direct experience in processing, packaging, maintenance and warehousing

At the Boston Beer Company and in accordance with pay transparency laws, we are open about our salary ranges. For this role, the salary range is between $95,000 and $159,900. However, it's important to note that where the person hired starts in this range is dependent on their related experience, skillset and location. Additionally, this position qualifies for a discretionary annual bonus based on company and individual performance, and certain sales roles might include a car allowance.
