Right Brain Curriculum creates fun, creative, project-based enrichment programs for elementary students across Massachusetts. Our classes include LEGOs, Minecraft, creative writing, public speaking, and more. We partner with recreation departments, PTOs, and schools to deliver after-school and vacation-week programs that help kids think big and love learning.
About the Role
We are seeking an energetic, tech-savvy
Technical Coordinator & Enrichment Instructor
to support our after-school programs across Massachusetts.
This is a
hybrid field-based and teaching position
. You'll spend most afternoons (1-5 p.m.) on the road visiting schools, setting up our Minecraft laptops, delivering materials, and stepping into classrooms as a substitute instructor when needed. When not in the field, you'll complete logistics or administrative tasks from home.
If you enjoy variety, independence, and working with kids in a creative environment, this role is an excellent fit.
This is a part-time independent contractor (1099) role.
Schedule
16-20 hours per week
20 hours/week during busier periods
(typically Aug-Sept, Dec-Jan, Mar-Apr)
16 hours/week during slower periods
Usual schedule is
Monday-Friday, 1:00-5:00 p.m.
Additional paid teaching hours available during February break, April break, and summer.
Contractor Status
This is a
1099 independent-contractor position
. Coordinators set their own professional approach to the work, supply their own vehicle, and manage their own taxes. Hours are guaranteed weekly, but the role is not a salaried employee position and does not include employee benefits.
What You'll Do
Transport and set up our Minecraft laptops at partner schools before class start dates.
Troubleshoot basic tech issues--Wi-Fi, software installation, login issues, etc.
Serve as a
floating substitute instructor
for after-school classes when teachers are absent (all curriculum provided).
Deliver materials and supplies to instructors across the region.
Teach several weeks of our summer and vacation-week enrichment programs.
Complete occasional administrative or prep tasks from home when not in the field.
Who You Are
You enjoy being on the move--visiting new schools and driving to different towns.
You're confident leading groups of children (experience in teaching, camps, or subbing strongly preferred).
You have reliable transportation large enough to carry laptops and supply bins.
You are tech-comfortable: updating software, connecting to school Wi-Fi, and following troubleshooting steps after training.
You're dependable, organized, and able to work independently.
You're friendly, patient, and professional--able to represent our organization well at partner schools.
Requirements
Valid driver's license and reliable vehicle.
Ability to lift and carry classroom materials (up to ~30 lbs).
Afternoon availability (1-5 p.m.) Monday through Friday.
Experience working with children ages 6-12 (camps, teaching, after-school programs, etc.).
Comfort with basic computer troubleshooting.
Compensation
$30/hour
for technical setup, logistics, and administrative work.
$40/hour
for classroom teaching and substitute coverage.
Mileage reimbursed
at the IRS standard rate.
All curriculum, training, and equipment provided.
Why This Role Is Great
Every day is different--this is not a desk job.
You'll help bring creative, project-based learning to kids across Massachusetts.
You'll have predictable weekly hours with a mix of teaching, tech, and on-the-road variety.
You'll join a small, supportive team that trusts your autonomy and values your work.
