Position Summary:

The Echo Vascular Technician under the general supervision of a cardiologist, performs ultrasonic procedures on pulmondary and cardiovasular systems, at a technical level not requiring constant superivision. Reports preliminary findings to the interpreting Cardiologist.. Performs and assists with cardiovascular diagnostic procedures on adult, geriatric patients. Responsible for initiating all vascular or echo procedures. Performs a variety of technical procedures that require independent judgment, with ingenuity and initiative to apply prescribed sound waves for radiologic diagnosis or intervention. Assumes responsibility for designated areas or procedures as required. Demonstrates Service Excellence at all times. Other duties as assigned.

Independence Physician Management (IPM), a subsidiary of UHS, was formed in 2012 as the physician services unit of UHS. IPM develops and manages multi-specialty physician networks and urgent care clinics which align with UHS acute care facilities. Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, Licensure, Training & Travel Requirements (if applicable):

Knowledge:

• Require registration as in vascular technology and cardiac sonography by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (RVT and RDCS) or adult cardiac sonography and vascular specialty from Cardiac Credentialing International (RVS, RCS)
• Require training by the American Heart Association in BLS required
• Require two (2) years of pertinent cardiovascular experience.

Education:

• Require graduation from a Cardiovascular Technology Program (AS, BS, or AA degree with emphasis in life and physical science).
