Background:
While under the supervision and direction of the EHS Director and EHS Site Manager, assist in guiding the implementation of a comprehensive child development program that meets the Head Start definition of curriculum in all program options and settings to assigned children six weeks through three years of age. Essential Job Functions:
  • Implement the EHS curriculum and Head Start Performance Standards for Early Head Start classrooms while maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly physical environment;
  • Assists in preparing daily lesson plans that include both indoor and outdoor activities; are individualized and based on the infants/toddler\xe2\x80\x99s own needs, interest and schedules; include strategies that address IFSP goals as needed; and include multicultural educational materials and activities, as appropriate;
  • Document volunteer activities, and parent communication regarding children\'s functions and activities;
  • Organize classroom according to developmental levels and individual needs of the infant or toddler ensuring: the development of trust and emotional security; opportunities to explore a variety of sensory and motor experiences; opportunities for the development of self-awareness, autonomy, and self-expression; and opportunities for gross and fine motor development;
  • Ensure infant and toddler classrooms are home-like, safe, sanitary, and free of clutter. Provide for diaper changing and toilet training functions in the classroom in a safe, sanitary and developmentally appropriate manner;
  • Promote the development of secure relationships with infant/toddlers assigned by assuring primary and continuity of care. Relate to infants and toddlers in a calm, caring, nurturing, soothing manner, responding to all cries, babbles, and talks, using appropriate child guidance techniques. Stay involved with children at all times during the day.
Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
  • Good oral and written communication skills and an ability to form professional relationships with a diverse group of people.
  • Requires computer literacy skills, including the ability to navigate, record, and overall basic computer skills.
Education requirements:
  • HS/GED Diploma, CDA, and/or AA or higher degree in Early Childhood Education.
