General Summary: To create an educational program and a classroom environment that is fair, is favorable to learning and growth, and is based on a commitment that all children can learn. Responsibilities: 1. Organize and supervise assigned classes for optimum educational learning. 2. Provide grade appropriate instructional programs. 3. Assessment of each student\xe2\x80\x99s performance including testing, teacher observation, interim reports, report cards and parent conferences. 4. Communicate with student\xe2\x80\x99s parents so as to assure parents are fully aware of the religious, academic, and social progress being made by the student. 5. Follow content and objectives from the school\xe2\x80\x99s established course/subject goals. 6. Keep records in accordance with school set policy. 7. Supervise the arrival, dismissal of students daily. 8. Supervise students during Mass or other liturgical celebrations. 9. See all desks, shelves, and cabinets are in order and report any maintenance needs to the office. 10. Keep bulletin boards current and attractive. 11. Inform the Principal of any unusual situation or emergency. 12. Attend facility meetings and other meetings as needed. 13. Lesson planning and class room preparation. Instructions: 1. Utilize valid teaching techniques to achieve curriculum goals within the framework of school\xe2\x80\x99s philosophy. 2. Employ a variety of instructional aids, methods, and materials that will provide for creative teaching to reach the whole child; spiritual, mental, physical, social, and emotional. 3. Plan through approved channels the balanced classroom use of field trips, guest speakers, and other media. 4. Use homework effectively for drill, review, enrichment, or project work. 5. Assess the learning of students on a regular basis and provide progress reports as required. 6. Maintain regular and accurate attendance and grade records to meet the demands for a comprehensive knowledge of each student\xe2\x80\x99s progress. 7. Keep students, parents, and the administration adequately informed of progress or deficiencies and give sufficient notice of failure. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required: 1. Understanding of the vision and values of Sacred Heart Southern Missions with a commitment to achieve the goals of the organization. 2. Must have a basic understanding and acceptance of Catholic school philosophy, goals, and objectives. 3. Must have necessary background and training in elementary/secondary education methods and subject areas. 4. Must have understanding of child development and skills necessary to relevant to the grade level being taught. 5. Must have appropriate control and discipline techniques, which will enhance the learning situation. 6. BA or BS in elementary or secondary education and appropriate state certification. Valid teaching license for the state of MS. 7. Ability to work and interact with other staff members to accomplish overall organizational and departmental goals. 8. Excellent oral, written, interpersonal communication and decision-making skills. Ability to hand multiple projects simultaneously. 9. Computer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs, especially Word, Excel, Publisher and Outlook. 10. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision/instruction. Able to establish and meet deadlines. 11. Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality. Physical Demands: Work is generally in a school setting with some outside activities. Some work with computer requires sitting for some periods; using hands to handle objects, lift objects or materials of up to 30 pounds. Moderate walking stooping, bending, reaching and sitting for extended periods may be required as a normal part of the job. Must be able to use telephone (hear and speak). Reasonable Accommodations: To successfully accomplish the essential job functions of the position, the employee must be able to read, write and speak in English, operate a computer and travel throughout a nine county area. Some lifting requirements may be accommodated by assistance from other staff members; repetitive wrist motion cannot be accommodated. Job Type: Full-time Pay: $41,500.00 - $71,400.00 per year Benefits:
