Job Description

Southern Oregon ESD is seeking an instructor who will be responsible for teaching and evaluating EMT and Paramedic students in the practical application of EMS skills and knowledge in a classroom and lab setting. The ideal candidate will have EMT Oregon State licensure, and at least three years of EMS experience and one year of EMS experience at or above the level being taught. Individuals from business and industry are invited and encouraged to apply, as a teaching license can be obtained with experience. This is a part-time position.

Southern Oregon ESD is located in the Rogue Valley, the cultural and economic heart of southern Oregon, home to legendary snow-skiing, white-water rafting, kayaking, hiking, fishing, as well as numerous cultural venues and events such as art galleries, the Britt Music Festivals, the Ashland Independent Film Festival, and the renowned Oregon Shakespeare Festival.

POSITION GOAL:

Help students learn subject matter and/or skills in a positive atmosphere that will develop them as responsible, respectful, and independent learners.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:


1. Plans a developmentally appropriate program of study that meets students' individual needs, interests, and abilities and aligns to state standards of learning while fitting in to the district's goals and mission.
2. Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the development and interests of students.
3. Achieves and maintains proficient levels of performance, as described in the District and school evaluation policies and procedures and as communicated by the administration.
4. Guides the learning process toward the achievement of the curriculum.
5. Establishes clear objectives for all lessons, units, projects, and the like to communicate these objectives to students.
6. Employs instructional methods and materials that are most effective for meeting stated objectives.
7. Possesses skills to communicate effectively and problem solve with the school principal and other stakeholders.
8. Administers state and federal tests in accordance with established rules and procedures.
9. Assesses students' accomplishments regularly using formative and summative assessments and provides individual feedback on reports as required.
10. Identifies possible learning-related disabilities of students, documents as necessary, provides intervention, and seeks the assistance of district specialists as needed.
11. Collaborates with colleagues, students, and/or parents regularly.
12. Develop and maintain positive, appropriate professional relationships with students and recognize necessary boundaries in interacting with students.
13. Model personal behaviors of honesty, fairness, courtesy, consideration, and good citizenship.
14. Assists the administration in implementing all policies and/or rules governing student life and conduct, and for the classroom, develops reasonable rules of classroom behavior and procedure, and maintains order in the classroom in a fair and just manner.
15. Plans purposeful assignments for teacher aid(s) and/or volunteer(s) and provides job performance feedback to administrators as appropriate.
16. Speak and behave in a professional manner with students, colleagues, and members of the community.
17. Attends meetings and serves on committees as needed.
18. Establishes and maintains harmonious relationships with students, fellow employees, and the general public by reflecting positively on the profession.
19. Stays current with research and best practices.
20. Uses computer technology for specified program tasks and for use with students as needed for instruction or communication.
21. Align with district and school goals, and follow specified standards, policies, and procedures of the building and District.
22. Responds in a cooperative and positive manner to supervision and direction.
23. Achieves professional growth as directed by the District and through consultation with District support staff and attendance at building and District in-service meetings and approved workshops and classes.
24. Maintains all licenses and requirements needed to maintain your professional standing and the requirements to complete all assigned reports.
25. Participate in professional growth activities.
26. Establish and maintain cooperative work relationships with SOESD employees, local education agency representatives, and others contacted during the course of the workday.
27. Follow established SOESD policies and procedures.
28. Perform physical requirements unaided or with the assistance of reasonable accommodation.
29. Perform other job-related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

MINIMUM PREREQUISITES:


1. Hold current or be able to obtain an Oregon Teaching Certificate with proper endorsement(s) in the subject matter and grade level assigned prior to start date.
2. Designated as Highly Qualified by TSPC where appropriate.
3. Maintain a valid Oregon Driver's License and personal transportation.
4. Pass the required criminal background check.

The equivalent combination of experience, training, certification, education, or degree that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities may be used as an alternative to prerequisites.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $28,482.07 - $38,730.95 per hour
