About Us:

New York Center for Child Development (NYCCD) is a dynamic special education preschool dedicated to excellence in the education and treatment of young children with special needs. We are currently seeking a

New York State Certified Teacher Assistant

to join our

Special Class in an Integrated Setting (SCIS)

preschool classroom, which includes both general education and special education students.

Schedule:

Full-time: 8:15 AM - 3:45 PM (includes lunch break) School Year: September-June Summer Program: 6 weeks (July and 2 weeks in August)

Responsibilities:

Engage with students at their developmental level throughout the day. Support the implementation of classroom curriculum and assist in meeting children's IEP and curriculum goals. Promote independence and higher-level thinking through open-ended questions and interactive discussions. Collaborate and participate in team meetings. Assist the teacher in preparing and organizing daily classroom activities and materials. Monitor children's needs and report unusual occurrences to the teacher. Consistently implement classroom and behavior management strategies (e.g., stating expectations, offering positive alternatives, and using "I" messages). Assist children with bathroom routines, including diapering and toileting, using universal precautions. Help children during snack and lunch times while engaging them in conversation.

Qualifications:

Valid NYS Teacher Assistant Certification (Level I, II, or III) - Required

Fluent in Spanish - Required

Experience working with preschool-aged children or children with special needs is preferred.

Pay: $40,000.00 - $43,000.00 per year
