This position is a member of our Air Quality Division.
HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Plan, and perform advanced detailed design and fabrication work for support structures and equipment associated with ambient air and water monitoring sites.
Conduct reconnaissance for air monitoring sites and deploys equipment to monitoring sites, including trailers, cabinets, equipment, fencing, HVAC, and meteorological towers.
Troubleshoot, maintain, and repair monitoring equipment to the component level. Develop specification and recommendation for equipment and supply purchases.
Prepare specifications; inspect and evaluate ambient monitoring site preparations, including site pads, electrical work, and fencing; and review and approve contractor activities.
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
Experience with assembly, installation, testing, and maintenance of electrical wiring in fixtures, control panels, air conditioning, and/or electrical machinery.
Experience with assembly, troubleshooting, and repair of machinery and mechanical equipment.
Experience with the design, fabrication, and/or repair of metal structures.
Experience in the troubleshooting and repair of electronics equipment.
Experience with vehicle safety and safe operation, transport, and maintenance of various sizes of trailers.
Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Graduation from high school or its equivalent, plus three years of full-time experience directly related to the examples of work performed.
Fifteen semester hours from and accredited college or university may be substituted for each six months of the required experience.
OR
Graduation from an accredited vocational, technical, or business school with a certificate of completion; or a certificate of completion from a military technical training program in areas directly related to the examples of work performed, plus one year of full-time experience directly related to the examples of work performed.
Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

Work Schedule
Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Air Monitor Division.
