This position is a member of our Information Resources Division.

HERE'S WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING



Lead and/or coordinate the administration, upgrading, testing, troubleshooting, delivery, and maintenance of enterprise application systems and environments for the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ). Lead and/or coordinate the administration of software environments and applications to ensure systems meet the business needs of the agency. Determine operational, technical, and support requirements for the installation, operation, and maintenance of applications, and computer and management information systems. Lead, plan, schedule, and coordinate systems implementations and upgrades. Analyze and test new or existing procedures, applications, information systems, or utility programs for efficiency and effectiveness. Plan, document, and implement, and/or lead the implementation of software security measures. Communicate/Interface with management and other technical teams to ensure enterprise level service needs are anticipated and met. Document enterprise system configurations and changes; and act as a mentor and technical resource for junior systems administrators.

Qualifications

KEY QUALIFICATIONS



Experience in the design, implementation, and/or administration of multilayer IT environments. Experience deploying, configuring, and administering Microsoft server operating systems. Experience administering cloud-based infrastructure platforms like Azure, OCI, and/or AWS.

REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE



A bachelor's degree in an information technologies or related field from an accredited college or university plus four (4) years of full-time experience in computer system administration, network administration, or operating systems programming in an open systems environment.

OR



Completion of 15 semester hours in information technologies from an accredited college, plus five (5) years of full-time experience in computer system administration, network administration, or operating systems programming in an open systems environment.

OR



Six (6) years of full-time experience in computer system administration, network administration, or operating systems programming in an open systems environment.

All the above experience options must have included successful completion of two (2) years as a full-time UNIX, LINUX, Novell, or Windows Server Systems Administrator in a multi-platform environment.

Employees in this classification series may research, work on, or have access to critical infrastructure, including but not limited to a communication infrastructure system, cybersecurity system, electric grid, hazardous waste treatment system, or water treatment facility. See Tex. Business & Commerce Code Section 117.001(2). Accordingly, the ability to maintain the security or integrity of the infrastructure is a requirement to be hired for and to continue to be employed with TCEQ.

WORK SCHEDULE



Standard business hours are M-F, 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Individual and work group schedule determined by the TCEQ Information Resources Division.
