Job Description

This is technical and analytical work in the Police Department, involving the installation, operation, maintenance, repair, and ongoing support of data communications networks accessing departmental and remote sites, with multiple department file servers and personal computer applications. Work includes monitoring and supporting multiple camera systems and hardware implementations, evaluating, assessing and correcting PC/laptop issues, assisting with the planning, testing and implementation of new technology requirements; along with upgrades and software fixes; assisting with the optimization of wireless network performance, and assisting with the coordination of efforts with other city technicians, vendors and department-wide PC users. Work hours will vary and will include nights and weekends.


Salary: $61,736 - $98,425

To Qualify



Minimum Qualifications, Applicants must:




Possess and maintain a valid Driver License.

Have completed at least two years of college level course work in computer science, programming, network administration or related field or equivalent professional work experience within the field.

Have experience working with data backup and recovery systems.

Have experience working with storage area networks. Acknowledge this position is designated as Emergency Critical (EC) and if hired into the position, you must be immediately available to the department before, during, and after a declared emergency and/or disaster.


Desirable Qualifications. Preferred applicants:




Have a valid Bachelor's degree with major course work in computer science, information technology or related field. Have at least two years of experience in Microsoft Windows Server administration.

Have Microsoft certification such as MCSE/MCSA/MCP.

Minimum Qualification:
