Hiring Range: $66,703-$74,000
Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday 9am-5pm. This is grant-funded for one-year, full-time with benefits.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This is a full-time, one-year grant-funded position with benefits, supported by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation's Systems for Action program. The selected candidate will collaborate closely with Duke University's Bellwether Collaborative for Health Justice, led by Dr. Lauren Brinkley-Rubinstein.
We are seeking a technically skilled, mission-driven Data Analyst who excels at translating complex information into clear, actionable insights. WHAT YOU'LL DO
As the Systems for Action Data Analyst, you will help the Durham Community Safety design meaningful data visualizations, support data integration across partners, and use both quantitative and qualitative insights to inform strategies that aim to reduce systemic harm, advance racial equity, and improve whole-person care across housing, behavioral health, reentry, and public safety systems. Your work will empower program managers, community stakeholders, and agency partners to make more data-informed, equity-centered decisions.
Duties/Responsibilities

Data Integration & Governance
Partner with DCSD, other city and county departments, and community organizations to identify opportunities where shared data can strengthen programs and improve services.
Work with cross-disciplinary teams to build a clear framework for integrated services, case management, and data sharing, and create an inventory of service and data assets across the city and community.
Lead the creation of core documents needed for data integration, including governance policies, MOUs, data-sharing agreements, and communication materials.
Use quality-assurance checks to keep data accurate, consistent, and reliable.
Data Visualization & Decision Tools
Build intuitive dashboards and tools that help monitor progress, identify trends, and improve service delivery
Collaborate with stakeholders to design visualizations aligned with key performance indicators
Ensure tools are user-friendly and accessible to non-technical users
Analytics & Insights
Conduct quantitative and qualitative analyses to identify trends, gaps, and opportunities for improving services
Translate complex data and community feedback into clear, actionable insights that inform programs and policy development
Partner with research institutions to support evaluation, analysis, and data storytelling
Equity & Data Ethics
Apply a racial equity and trauma-informed lens to all data practices
Minimum Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor's degree
or equivalent
in statistics, data or quantitative analysis, public policy, business, public administration, sociology, or directly related field
Two years of professional program administration or analytical experience
Experience in statistical analyses, data reporting from complex systems, and building tools/dashboards in business intelligence software, like Power BI or Tableau
Knowledge of data integration tools and methods
Familiarity with data governance and privacy laws (HIPAA, FERPA, etc.)

Significant experience with statistical analyses and program evaluation; including skills to build tools in business intelligence software, like Power BI or Tableau
Flexibility and openness to programmatic changes in a rapidly scaling department
Experience with cross-sector data integration efforts
Strong leadership and analytical skills for effective problem solving, collaboration, and the ability to propose quality recommendations for program and process improvements
Relevant lived experience in addition to professional experience
