The KC-135 Stratotanker provides the core aerial refueling capability for the United States Air Force and has excelled in this role for more than 60 years. This unique asset enhances the Air Force\'s capability to accomplish its primary mission of global reach. It also provides aerial refueling support to Air Force, Navy, Marine Corps and allied nation aircraft. The KC-135 is the backbone of the USAF refueling fleet and is scheduled to remain so for decades to come. This position is for systems engineering co-op on the KC-135 Platform Systems Team within the Military Avionics & Helicopters department of Avionics Engineering at Collins Aerospace. This position is onsite in Cedar Rapids, IA. The team\xe2\x80\x99s charter is to perform the aircraft platform systems engineering tasks associated with the design, development, and integration of various system/subsystem applications, for use on the KC-135 platform. This position is eligible for relocation. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Performs analysis at all levels of the total system product including concept, design, fabrication, modeling, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Manages configuration process, performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Decomposes customer specifications and system level requirements into sub-system and piece part requirements, and generates verification criteria and plans for the requirements.
Basic Qualifications:
  • Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree and 12 months or less of relevant professional work experience (excluding internships).
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access the information under this program/contract.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pursuing degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) field.
