Job Description


As a Systems Engineer III, you will be working with a small to medium-sized systems team responsible for the design, integration, verification, testing, and fielding of multiple complex aircraft systems. You will have the ability to work with software, hardware, electrical, and other systems engineers to meet the goals of the program. You will be responsible for tracking systems engineering progress, schedule milestones, and have the opportunity to present technical presentations and content to IAS customers when needed."

This specific role is within the Military Aircraft System (MAS) Business Unit of IAS\xe2\x80\x99 Aircraft Integration Systems (AIS) organization. MAS responds to Customer requirements to integrate new and/or enhanced capabilities into the Customer\xe2\x80\x99s aircraft or fleet of aircraft. MAS, as the name implies, normally makes modifications to aircraft originally designed to support a military purpose; most commonly MAS works with C-130 aircraft. Specific capabilities fall generally into the categories of communications systems, (ISR) sensor systems, aircraft defensive systems, and avionics systems. MAS designs solutions that incorporate the desired \xe2\x80\x9cbest of breed\xe2\x80\x9d components, and then integrate them into one or more aircraft as required. Your specific responsibilities will be to design solutions to integrate compute, network, radio, and datalink solutions into an existing aircraft infrastructure and carry-on kits.

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor\'s of Science degree in Systems Engineering or related engineering discipline and typically 6 or more years of relevant experience
  • Experience working with DoD Electronic Warfare (EW) systems
  • Practical knowledge of engineering principles and practices
  • Experience working in multi-disciplinary design and development teams
  • Understanding of requirements management, functional requirements parsing, derivation, and allocation; systems design, systems integration, technical risk identification and management strategies, and Verification and Validation (V&V) principles
  • An active Secret U.S. Security Clearance is required.

Preferred:
  • AC-130J and/or MC-130J defensive system (IR, RF, etc.) experience
  • Experience with OMS/UCI or other open architecture software standards.
  • Experience with requirements management and system modeling tools, such as DOORS, Rhapsody, NoMagic, MATLAB
  • Practical knowledge of industry-standard mechanical design principles, including, but not limited to requirements management, Model-Based System Engineering (MBSE)
  • Experience or certification in INCOSE standards
  • Background in the Aviation and Defense Industry
  • Ability to administer baseline definition and maturation in a complex development setting, including the use of high-impact trade studies and other measures
  • Exposure to establishing and tracking key Technical Performance Measurements (TPM)
  • Familiarity with environmental qualification of equipment and DO-160/MIL-STD-810 environmental qualification specifications
  • Systems integration experience in a lab or aviation environment is a plus
