Position Summary & Responsibilities:
Position Summary:
The Systems Architect of the Kansas Bureau of Investigation is responsible for oversight of deployed technology solutions for agency business needs and the teams responsible for supporting those solutions. Under the direction of the Chief Information Technology Officer, the Systems Architect will review technology solutions requested by the agency to assess architectural alignment, feasibility, and supportability in alignment with agency and department goals and objectives.
Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:
Develop quotes, cost/benefit analysis, and makes purchase recommendations to Chief Information Technology Officer and senior agency staff.
Provide inventory management for all agency hardware and software purchases.
Coordinate and supervise deployment of technology solutions in support of agency goals, including operating systems and applications.
Provides expert level troubleshooting skills for a wide range of technologies.
Coordinates troubleshooting initiatives for complicated networkserver related issues that may branch across the agency.
Supervises the IT Technical Support unit and makes staff assignments as required to meet agency demands.
Provides for staff professional training and development.
Evaluates staff performance and takes measures to ensure that staff is operating with necessary tools and skills to make them successful at their job.
Manage the agency data centers, ensuring policies and requirements for physical security, environmental controls, electrical needs are all met.
Engage as a member of the IT Leadership Team to collaboratively develop strategies to meet operational requirements of the agency.
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field
or
8 years of experience in information systems and analysis.
Minimum Qualifications
Five years of experience in information systems and analysis or, in lieu of the education requirement, eight years of experience in information systems and analysis. Education may be substituted for experience as determined relevant by the agency.
Minimum of 3 years of IT leadership experience demonstrating increasing responsibility.
In depth knowledge of one of the major practice areas of IT (e.g. Application Development, Security, Project Management, etc.)
Technical depth in IT operations, vendor management, and service delivery.
Fluency in compliance standards (e.g. NIST, ISO, etc.)
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills
Excellent analytical skills with ability to manage project oversight under strict timelines
