The Operator is responsible for all the functions relating to the operations of the switchboard. Receives all incoming calls, provides information regarding patients, hospital services and events. Runs an internal and external beeper system. Handles all hospital codes; monitors and responds to all alarm panels. Maintains key log. Keeps an accurate log of all necessary calls and codes. Provides after hours registration coverage and support to the Business Office.
DEPT. SCOPE OF SERVICE:
The Switchboard department provides a full range of communication services and is fully staffed 24 hours a day, seven days a week. They also register in- and out-patients after 5:00 p.m. weekdays and all-day weekends and holidays. The Switchboard also assists the business office. They are responsible for monitoring the parking area video system and alerting security when necessary.

Education:
High school diploma or equivalent education preferred; associate's degree preferred.
Experience:
Switchboard experience desirable, preferably in a hospital environment, or on a similar system.
Licensure/Certification:
None.
