Job Description

JOB SUMMARY:

The Swim Instructor is responsible for the safety and instruction of students in swimming at the appropriate level. Examples of duties include:

Supervise at least 4 children at a time in your class. Teach the required skills correctly and enthusiastically. Communicate respectfully and politely with the parents of the students. Maintain a running attendance and evaluation on each student throughout the session. Complete a report card for each student at the end of the session. Complete all paperwork neatly and on time that is asked for by the coordinators. Aid in cleaning the facility at the end of swim lesson classes. Set up equipment before morning and evening lessons. Attend all scheduled in-service trainings and meetings. Be able to work all days of the scheduled sessions. Plan lessons to keep participants busy for the full 40 minutes. Walk the children to their parents after each lesson. Observe and follow all Park District safety policies and regulations.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be at least 15 years of age. Requires strong people and customer service skills. Able to communicate effectively with staff and the public. Experience with children a plus. Swimming experience required.

SCHEDULE & PAY:

This is a part-time, hourly position with flexible schedules on weekday evenings & weekend mornings. Hiring rate is between $15.00 - $16.00 per hour.
