Overview

We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Swimming Coach to join our Portland Porpoise community. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in swimming and coaching, with experience working with students of various ages. This role offers an exciting opportunity to inspire and develop beginner level swimmers while promoting safety, skill development, and a love for aquatic activities. The Swimming Coach will work with team of coaches to design engaging lessons that promote skill development and progress, ensure safety protocols are followed, and foster a positive learning environment.

Responsibilities

Use provided learning objectives, deliver swimming lessons tailored to different skill levels, from beginners to advanced swimmers, age 6-16 years old. Ensure the safety of all participants by enforcing pool rules and supervising activities at all times Conduct behavior management to maintain a respectful and focused environment during lessons Communicate progress and provide constructive feedback to students and parents or guardians Promote a positive attitude towards physical activity, health, and fitness

Qualifications

Prior experience in competitive swimming or swim lessons strongly preferred Experience working with children or students in a childcare or educational setting Knowledge of swimming techniques and water safety protocols Strong communication skills with the ability to motivate and manage behavior effectively Certification in lifeguarding or first aid is a plus but not mandatory; relevant training can be provided Passion for teaching and developing athletes of all ages and skill levels

Pay: $21.00 - $25.00 per hour
