Job Description

This position receives direction from the Chief Sustainability and Resiliency Officer, and may exercise direct supervision over assigned professional, technical, clerical, and consulting personnel. The Essentials

  • Bachelor\'s degree from an accredited college or university in sustainability, environmental science, business, engineering, economics, planning, or other closely related field.
  • Four years of progressively responsible experience in sustainability program development, analysis, implementation, and management.
  • Valid California Class C driver\'s license.
Bonus Points:
  • Relevant master\'s degree.
  • Demonstrated experience of coordinating or overseeing related programs in a public-sector environment or nonprofit agency, and supervisory experience.
What You\'ll Do
  • Lead sustainability programs and projects; manage complex projects with the supervision of the Chief Sustainability and Resiliency Officer; and coordinate and serve as a technical resource on sustainability and resiliency efforts among departments, external agencies, and community organizations.
  • Lead the implementation and ongoing administration of an equity integration plan.
  • Lead the development, implementation and ongoing administration of a resilience and adaptation plan.
  • Monitor and evaluate proposed sustainability measures to identify tradeoffs and recommend priority of investment through life cycle costing, cost/benefit analysis, or other methods prior to implementation.
  • Participate in the appointment of personnel; and manage and direct the activities of assigned staff, including work assignments, performance evaluations, employee development, and disciplinary action.
