We are seeking a passionate and skilled Sushi Chef / Sushi Maker to join our vibrant culinary team. Responsibilities
Prepare a variety of sushi and sashimi using precise knife skills and proper food handling techniques to ensure freshness and safety.
Create innovative sushi rolls, nigiri, and other Japanese delicacies that align with menu standards and customer preferences.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station, adhering strictly to food safety and sanitation protocols.
Assist in menu planning by suggesting new sushi options based on seasonal ingredients and current food trends.
Ensure all ingredients are stored correctly, rotated properly, and used efficiently to minimize waste.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation, catering orders, and special events that require sushi service.
Monitor inventory levels of seafood, rice, seaweed, sauces, and other supplies; communicate needs promptly for restocking.
Uphold high standards of food presentation to enhance the visual appeal of each dish served.
Follow all health regulations related to food handling, safety procedures, and hygiene practices at all times.
Support the team during busy service hours by serving guests when needed and maintaining a positive atmosphere.
Skills
Extensive culinary experience with a focus on Japanese cuisine or fine dining environments.
Strong knife skills with the ability to perform precise cuts for sushi preparation.
Proven experience in food preparation, cooking techniques, and food handling within a restaurant or catering setting.
Knowledge of food safety standards and proper sanitation practices in a professional kitchen.
Experience in menu planning and creating innovative sushi dishes that appeal to diverse tastes.
Background in dietary department or dietary aide roles is a plus for accommodating special dietary needs.
Excellent food service skills with the ability to serve guests professionally and courteously.
Familiarity with kitchen equipment used in sushi preparation such as rice cookers, sharp knives, bamboo mats, etc.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail during peak hours.
Strong teamwork ethic with effective communication skills to coordinate seamlessly with colleagues.
