Duties

Prepare and assemble a variety of sushi dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards Assist in the daily setup and organization of the sushi station, ensuring all ingredients are fresh and properly stored Handle food with care, following strict food safety and hygiene protocols to prevent contamination Slice fish, vegetables, and other ingredients using precise knife skills to ensure consistent quality and appearance Support menu planning by suggesting new sushi options and seasonal specials based on ingredient availability and customer preferences Maintain cleanliness of workstations, tools, and equipment in compliance with health regulations Assist with food preparation for catering events or special functions as needed Serve sushi dishes efficiently to guests, ensuring a positive dining experience Follow all food handling procedures diligently during meal prep and service periods

Skills

Proven experience in a culinary environment, particularly in sushi preparation or Japanese cuisine is highly desirable Strong knife skills with the ability to handle raw fish and vegetables safely and efficiently Knowledge of food safety standards and proper food handling techniques Experience in menu planning, food preparation, cooking, and food service within a restaurant or food industry setting Familiarity with dietary department procedures or dietary aide experience is a plus Ability to work quickly under pressure while maintaining attention to detail Excellent teamwork skills with the ability to communicate effectively within a busy kitchen environment Knowledge of catering services and serving etiquette preferred Passion for culinary arts with a focus on authentic Japanese dishes and presentation excellence
