Job Overview

We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food service and a deep appreciation for Japanese cuisine. As a Sushi Chef, you will be responsible for preparing high-quality sushi dishes, ensuring food safety and hygiene standards are met, and providing an exceptional dining experience for our guests. Pay will depend on experience.

Responsibilities

- Prepare a variety of sushi rolls, sashimi, and other Japanese dishes with precision and creativity.
- Maintain high standards of food safety and hygiene throughout the kitchen.
- Ensure all ingredients are fresh and properly stored, adhering to food handling guidelines.
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to create new menu items and improve existing recipes.
- Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary.
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff in sushi preparation techniques.
- Maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area, including workstations, utensils, and equipment.
- Interact with guests when necessary to provide recommendations or address inquiries about menu items.

Experience

- Looking for 1 year or more experience
- Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within a fine dining environment.
- Strong knowledge of food preparation techniques, particularly in sushi making.
- Familiarity with food safety regulations and best practices in food handling.
- Culinary degree or relevant certification is preferred but not required.
- Excellent knife skills and attention to detail in presentation.
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively within a team.

Pay rate may differ depending on the level of experience and will fluctuate. Starting $22 plus tips.
