Job Summary


We are seeking a talented and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine and a commitment to delivering high-quality dishes in a fine dining environment. This role requires creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen. The Sushi Chef will be responsible for preparing sushi and other Japanese dishes while ensuring food safety and quality standards are met.

Responsibilities



Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, with precision and artistry. Collaborate with the kitchen team to plan menus that reflect seasonal ingredients and customer preferences. Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi station and kitchen area. Ensure all food preparation adheres to safety and sanitation standards, including proper food handling techniques. Assist in menu planning and development, incorporating innovative ideas for new sushi offerings. Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary to ensure freshness. Provide exceptional service by engaging with guests about menu items and making recommendations based on their preferences. Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and best practices.

Requirements



Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role within the food industry. Strong knowledge of food safety regulations and proper food handling procedures. Excellent knife skills with the ability to prepare various types of fish and vegetables for sushi. Experience in fine dining establishments is highly desirable. Familiarity with dietary department operations or dietary aide experience is a plus. Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment while maintaining high standards of quality. Strong culinary skills with experience in meal preparation, cooking, catering, and food service. Passion for Japanese cuisine with an understanding of traditional techniques and flavors.
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: From $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 20 per week
