Mary's Place: Sexual Assault Center of the Coastal Empire provides 24/7 crisis response, advocacy, counseling, and prevention education for survivors of sexual violence across Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, Evans, Liberty, Long, and Tattnall counties.
The Survivor Support Legal Advocate provides direct, trauma-informed support to survivors of sexual assault through crisis intervention, legal advocacy, and community outreach. This position ensures survivors have access to safe, compassionate services and collaborate with legal partners, law enforcement, and other agencies to support each survivor's healing and justice journey
Assist survivors with Temporary Protective Orders and court accompaniment.
Provide trauma-informed emotional support and safety planning.
Coordinate with Georgia Legal Services for legal representation.
Serve as liaison among survivors, law enforcement, attorneys, and community partners.
Connect survivors to community resources such as food, rent, and utility assistance.
Provide crisis intervention and advocacy coverage during business hours
Participate in after-hours on-call rotation to support the 24-hour crisis line and after-hours SANE Advocacy Support Services.
Answer crisis line calls and respond to hospitals for forensic exams as needed.
Support SANE program operations, including supplies and documentation.
Recruit, train, and coordinate Crisis Advocacy Response Team (CART) volunteers.
Case Management
Complete follow-up calls within 24-48 hours of initial contact.
Provide referrals to appropriate services and accompany clients to court or appointments.
Maintain accurate case documentation and timely reports.
Community Engagement
Represent Mary's Place at SART and community meetings.
Participate in outreach presentations and awareness events.
Build and maintain partnerships with local organizations.
Co-facilitate Survivor Support Groups and assist with grant projects as need
Associate's degree in social work, Psychology, Criminal Justice, or related field (Bachelor's preferred) or two years of relevant experience.
Experience in advocacy, crisis response, or human services.
Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Cultural competency in working with diverse and marginalized populations.
Willingness to work flexible hours, including nights and weekends for on-call support.
Valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and insurance.
Successful background check and drug screening.
Office-based with travel to hospitals, courts, and partner agencies.
Monday-Friday with required participation in after-hours on-call rotation every 4-6 weeks.
Occasional lifting (up to 30 lbs.) and attendance at community events.
