Surgical Veterinary Technician/Assistant



Schedule:

Wednesday-Friday (Full-Time, 10 Hour Shifts, 3 Days a Week)

Location:

Greater Sacramento Area

Eligible for holidays and benefits



Setting:

2 days at our specialty surgery center, 1 day on mobile surgery service

(Additional hours may be available depending on staffing)

We are seeking a Veterinary Technician or Veterinary Assistant to join our team. The ideal candidate is mature, organized, detail-oriented, and passionate about high-quality patient care.

Position Overview



This role supports both our mobile surgery service and specialty center. Responsibilities include assisting in surgical procedures, maintaining sterile environments, supporting anesthesia and recovery, managing equipment, and communicating with hospital teams.

Key Responsibilities



Mobile Surgery in the Greater Sacramento Area (1 Day/Week)



Assist in setting up and breaking down operating rooms at partner hospitals. Maintain sterile technique and provide instruments and supplies to surgeons. Support patient prep, anesthesia coordination, and recovery. Communicate with hospital teams and ensure all equipment is packed and accounted for. Assist with equipment and vehicle maintenance, restocking, and inventory tracking. Coordinate start/end times and shared driving responsibilities with the mobile team.

Surgical Center in the Sacramento Greenhaven/Pocket Area (2 Days/Week)



Assist with patient intake, consultations, and surgical prep. Prepare and organize surgical instruments and operating room equipment. Assist with X-rays, suction, cautery, surgical lighting, and sterile setup. Provide updates to clients and assist with billing estimates. Clean and sterilize surgical tools, manage post-operative recovery, and maintain accurate documentation.

Additional Expectations



Punctuality and teamwork in coordinating schedules. Professional and courteous communication with staff and clients. Initiative in maintaining equipment and operating room readiness. Limited personal phone use during working hours.

Qualifications



Registered Veterinary Technician (RVT) or experienced Veterinary Assistant. Strong organizational and communication skills. Interest in surgical medicine and patient care. Valid driver's license and reliable transportation (required for mobile service). Prior surgical or specialty experience preferred; training provided.

Schedule, Compensation, & Benefits



Wednesday-Friday, full-time (10 hour shifts, 3 days per week). Eligible for holidays and benefits. Potential for additional hours based on staffing.
