Job Description


A Brief Overview
The Surgery Schedulers are responsible for scheduling the procedures for Olathe Health Systems done in Surgery, Ambulatory Surgery Center, and the GI Departments. The Surgery Scheduler for the Pain Management Center is responsible for scheduling appointments for the Pain Management Center. The Cardiovascular Center scheduler is responsible for scheduling Invasive Cardiology, EP, Interventional Radiology, and non-invasive procedures coordinating these appointment with vascular, echo, anesthesia and the clinics as needed. The Schedulers work collaboratively with the physician\'s office and/or patient to determine an acceptable date/time for the procedure / appointment(s) to be scheduled. He/she enters the required data into the automated scheduling system after confirming no conflicts exist. The Scheduler also is required to perform miscellaneous other clerical duties. Effective, efficient, and timely scheduling is a key component for customer satisfaction.

What you will do

  • Performs job duties in a manner to consistently improve the patient experience and minimize delays. Supportive of others involved in patient\'s care. Assists the patient and family with coordinating care to meet individual needs. Facilitates patient flow thru the department processes. Demonstrates organizational skills and plans ahead.
  • Consistently demonstrates cost savings activities: Minimize supply waste. Demonstrates productive use of time. Offers suggestions for cost savings.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of departmental information by: regularly attending staff meetings, reading email information, attending departmental in-service offerings, reading communication books, reviewing available literature and resource material.
  • Able to respond to emergent situations in an effective manner and willing to cross-train to other areas / departments.
  • Demonstrates appropriate and effective conflict resolution skills. Step 1: addresses issues with individuals involved in a courteous and professional manner Step 2: escalates issues to appropriate Department Director, as necessary
  • Education Qualifications
  • High School or GED Minimum
Experience Qualifications
  • Previous Healthcare Experience Minimum
  • 1 - 3 Years Minimum
