Shift: Rotating hours between 6:30AM/8:00AM \xe2\x80\x93 3:00PM/4:30PM
Location: 2nd Floor Heritage Building (La Crosse Main Campus)
Department: Surgery and Procedures
Hybrid Model **IA, MN & WI ONLY** \xe2\x80\x93 required coverage 2 days a week in person Main or Coordinator. One Scheduler is on site per day.
Training: Required onsite \xe2\x80\x93 4 to 6 weeks

The Surgery and Procedure Scheduler organizes the surgery schedule for the next day and schedules surgeries for the future. Responsible for providing a variety of secretarial, computer, scheduling and supply functions necessary for the operation of the unit.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Organizes operating and procedural schedule for the next day
2. Communicates with surgeons, proceduralists and medical staff to orchestrate surgery and procedural schedules for future dates.
3. Communicates scheduling conflicts to surgeons, proceduralists and appropriate staff and maintains audit trail of issues in Epic OpTime.
4. Demonstrates and maintains appropriate computer skills to efficiently carry out responsibilities.
5. Coordinates huddle at 1300 daily with the administrative director, clinical manager, and charge nurses. Review next day\xe2\x80\x99s schedule. Understands and follows the surgery & procedures guidelines.
6. Release surgeon\xe2\x80\x99s block time per block guidelines
7. Prints antibiotic list on a daily basis, enters on schedule under appropriate patient
8. Verifies that preference card is attached to scheduled case and for add-on cases that preference card is appropriate
9. Orientation for staff and physicians to the scheduling process.
10. Verify on a monthly basis the correct blocks have been entered for surgeon / proceduralist
11. Prints schedules throughout the day and distributes to appropriate areas.
12. Meets the surgery & procedures coordinators and reviews the next day\xe2\x80\x99s schedule, enters arrival time and verifies with coordinator. Confirms patient arrival times.
13. Leaves detailed heart message for the heart team at 1600 daily.
14. Multitasks in a high stress environment.
15. Works with Pre Admission Teaching and Testing (PATT) to ensure that patient needs are addressed on the surgery / procedures schedules.
16. Maintains patient privacy under HIPAA guidelines.
17. Performs other duties of functions as assigned.
18. Reviews the following week\xe2\x80\x99s surgery & procedure schedule, looking for overbookings. Send a weekly report stating any over-bookings.
19. Schedules emergent/urgent cases. Coordinates with charge nurse, coordinators, anesthesiologist, and control desk. Coordinates for Interventional Radiology and Cath Lab.
20. Review prior week cases with the overbooking report and send out actual completion time of case on a weekly basis.
Education and Learning:
REQUIRED
High School Diploma or equivalency
DESIRED
Associate degree in a related field
Work Experience:
REQUIRED
1 year of experience working in a healthcare setting. Job Type: Full-time
