Capital Women's Care is a 150+ group of OB/GYNs located throughout Greater Washington, DC, Northern Virginia and Maryland. The Surgery Coordinator is responsible for coordinating surgical procedures, preparing and coordinating pre-operative and post-operative patient care, and ensuring efficient communication between the hospitals, surgery centers and in-office procedures with physicians and our affiliates.

Responsibilities



Coordinate and schedule surgeries, procedures, and deliveries with the appropriate facilities for assigned providers Manage pre-surgical coordination with patients, including required testing, documentation, and insurance review Verify insurance benefits, obtain prior authorizations, and communicate coverage details, out-of-pocket costs, and payment options to patients and the billing team Provide patients with education and guidance regarding upcoming surgeries or procedures, including preparation instructions and next steps Prepare and maintain accurate medical records, surgical documentation, and provider-specific surgical logs Coordinate preoperative testing, history and physicals, and required clearances with patients, providers, and facilities Identify and arrange specialized equipment or personnel requested by physicians for scheduled procedures Respond to inquiries from patients, vendors, providers, and internal staff in a timely and professional manner

Requirements



High school diploma or GED required. Two (2) years of experience as a surgical scheduler, with corresponding knowledge of insurance eligibility and authorizations. Experience in an Ob/Gyn setting preferred. Strong knowledge of medical terminology. Bilingual skills preferred. Strong communication skills to effectively educate patients about their health. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Commitment to providing compassionate care while advocating for women's health issues.

Work Schedule



Monday - Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm In-person

Pay: $25.00 - $28.00 per hour
