JOB DESCRIPTION

TITLE: SUPPORTIVE SERVICES ASSISTANT - PT, Weekend/Flex Shift

REPORTING RELATIONSHIP: Reports to the Safe Haven Program Manager

PRIMARY WORKPLACE: Susquehanna Harbor Safe Haven, 1805 N. 12th St., Harrisburg

PURPOSE OF POSITION: Provide direct supportive services for residents, on assigned shifts

CLASSIFICATION: Part-time (8 - 24 hrs./week), Non-Exempt

QUALIFICATIONS:

- Associate degree in human services or related field preferred; equivalent experience in human services accepted

- Experience in relating to or working with individuals dealing with homelessness, mental illness, and/or substance abuse issues.

- Ability to be self-directed and reliable to carry out job duties without direct supervision

- Ability to lift items up to 50 lbs. on a regular basis.

- Ability to do basic meal preparation and housekeeping chores

- Availability to work two weekends (4 weekend shifts) per month

- Availability to work a flex shift on those weekends (7 am - 3 pm, 3 - 11 pm, 11 pm - 7 am), as well as occasional availability to work evening hours during the week

- CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification

- Acceptable criminal background and child abuse history checks

TASKS:

- Monitor resident behavior to ensure safety and compliance with house rules, properly reporting any concerns

- Maintain knowledge of who is in the building at all times

- Maintain building security by securing all outside doors and signing in all visitors.

- Promptly deal with any crisis situations regarding resident health or behavioral issues

- Treat all residents with dignity and respect, maintaining appropriate professional boundaries and encouraging resident engagement at each individual's pace

- Complete shift log, properly documenting any significant resident interactions

- Build a positive rapport with residents, referring any issues to case management staff

- Assist in maintaining a clean facility, completing housekeeping tasks as assigned

- Complete meal preparation and serve meals as assigned

- Answers phones, properly documenting messages, and handling all contacts with the general public in a professional, courteous manner

- Perform other duties as assigned

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $16.00 per hour
